Daniel Rogers&#8217; love of learning was first sparked by his grandparents&#8217; library in El Paso, TX.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It is really hot in El Paso in the summertime, so my favorite place there was my grandparents&#8217; air conditioned library,&#8221; Rogers recalls in a wide-ranging\u00a0<em>Wabash On My Mind<\/em> interview with Rich Paige. &#8220;There were tons of books, and I have wonderful memories of hanging out in that library and reading to my heart&#8217;s content.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>And the &#8220;V.&#8221; stands for &#8220;Victor.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Victor Daniel Rogers, Jr. is my full name,&#8221; the professor explains. &#8220;I preferred &#8216;Dan.&#8217; Somehow &#8216;Victor&#8217; did not work in junior high.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Enjoy the conversation with a teacher, musician, pilot, and veteran traveler whose many interests and life exemplify the liberal arts and a contagious love of learning.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Professor of Modern Languages V.
