{"id":684,"date":"2014-10-15T15:48:58","date_gmt":"2014-10-15T15:48:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.wabash.edu\/magazine\/?p=684"},"modified":"2023-05-24T17:57:08","modified_gmt":"2023-05-24T17:57:08","slug":"democracy-initiative-earns-grant","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.wabash.edu\/magazine\/2014\/10\/15\/democracy-initiative-earns-grant\/","title":{"rendered":"Democracy Initiative Earns Grant"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Wabash Democracy &amp; Public Discourse (WDPD) initiative has been awarded a grant by Indiana Humanities to lead conversations in the Crawfordsville community about quality of place, initiative Director and Assistant Professor of Rhetoric Sara Drury announced Monday.<\/p>\n<p>The $2,000 grant will help support \u201cThe Next Montgomery County: A Deliberative Community Conversation about Future Quality of Place in Montgomery County, Indiana.\u201d Three community conversations around quality of place will be facilitated by Professor Drury and her students and will build \u00a0on work accomplished by similar conversations in 2013.<\/p>\n<p>The WDPD was established at Wabash earlier this year and empowers students and the community to use the power of public discourse to work through and solve controversial issues.<\/p>\n<p>The grant was one of 17 Indiana Humanities grants of up to $2,000 awarded to\u00a0 nonprofit organizations for projects that seek to engage the public in the humanities.
