“Part of our motivation for building this dream was to create a community,” Triton Brewing co-founder David Waldman \u201993 says of the Triton Tap Room. “We go to great lengths to get to know our neighbors, our regulars, to give them a sense of belonging. It\u00a0builds our brand, yes, but it also builds our community.”<\/p>\n
Waldman’s past experience and religious heritage also inform his efforts at Triton.<\/p>\n
“I have a background in the private club industry, where\u00a0the number one factor in membership retention is being able to call someone by name, to build a sense of belonging,” Waldman says. “It\u2019s hospitality.”<\/p>\n
He recalls the Biblical story of Abraham\u00a0who, as an adult,\u00a0welcomes people to his home even though he’s in pain from being circumcised.<\/p>\n
“He’s in incredible pain, yet when he\u00a0sees in the distance three strangers he runs out to greet them, to invite them in. Hospitality is that important\u2014you have to go out\u00a0 and welcome people.\u00a0And if it\u2019s my industry, I have to do it that much more.”<\/p>\n
“I know\u00a0kids who, when their parents say, where do you want to go, they’ll say, ‘I want to go to Triton for a root beer float.’ That\u2019s music to my ears. I\u2019ve got kids\u2014I know what that means. It\u2019s more than the next generation of consumers\u2014these parents\u00a0have found with their kids a place everyone can agree on. It\u2019s everyone\u2019s place.”<\/p>\n
