{"id":1288,"date":"2016-05-13T14:33:08","date_gmt":"2016-05-13T14:33:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.wabash.edu\/immersionlearning201314\/?p=1288"},"modified":"2016-05-13T14:33:08","modified_gmt":"2016-05-13T14:33:08","slug":"classroom-not-really-that-surprising","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.wabash.edu\/immersionlearning\/2016\/05\/13\/classroom-not-really-that-surprising\/","title":{"rendered":"Classroom Not Really That Surprising"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Matt Scott &#8217;17<\/em> &#8211; One of the biggest things that I believe happens to students upon arriving at their (Chicago) schools is the culture shock.\u00a0 However, that isn\u2019t the case for me.\u00a0 I went to a school that was similar with a large amount of black students who enrolled.\u00a0 It wasn\u2019t as large of a number as Kenwood, but it was very similar.\u00a0 Going into the first day, I knew pretty much what I was getting into and knew that there wasn\u2019t going to be many surprises.\u00a0 However, one thing I noticed is that there isn\u2019t a lot of disrespect to the teachers as I thought there would be.\u00a0 My high school had students who didn\u2019t care who was the authority figure and disrespected almost everyone in the building.<\/p>\n<p>I think another thing that I was expecting based off my own personal experiences was that there would not be many students who really care for their education.\u00a0 While that may be true, there are also many students who truly care about being in class and working hard to get a good grade and hopefully obtain entry into a college.
