The trip was originally to visit Steele\u2019s mother and brothers in Oregon and his youngest son Shirley and daughter-in-law in California. According to Steele\u2019s grandson, \u201cfirst, it was a family trip. Secondly, Steele felt he needed refreshment from what he had been doing here. He wanted to have a change in scenery.\u201d Steele took another trip back to the West after he got back from his first trip and said that he predicted his painting from the trip would make \u201cthe best exhibition I have ever had.\u201d Steele loved the West, but Steele could never love it more than Indiana.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/vYSdku6M8Bo\" target=\"_blank\">Video of T.
