He taught philosophy and political economy.<\/p>\n<p>Following a fund raising trip to northern Indiana in 1841, Baldwin became ill and died suddenly.<\/p>\n<p>His portrait on campus was painted by Samuel F.B. Morse, inventor of the telegraph. Morse\u2019s brother was a dear friend of Baldwin\u2019s.
