Coates PhD \u201989<\/strong>, the Tisch University Professor in the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology at Cornell University, is one of 84 new members elected to the National Academy of Sciences, the academy announced May 2.\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/news.cornell.edu\/stories\/2017\/05\/chemistrys-coates-elected-national-academy-sciences\">Click here<\/a> for the news release.<\/p>\n<p>After Wabash, Geoff earned his PhD at Stanford University.\u00a0 He received an Honorary Doctor of Science Degree from Wabash in 2013.\u00a0 He teaches undergraduate organic chemistry as well as a graduate course on polymer chemistry.\u00a0 An Alfred P. Sloan research fellow, Geoff has received numerous awards from the American Chemical Society, including the A.C. Cope Scholar Award and the Affordable Green Chemistry Award, and was inducted to the American Academy of Science in 2011.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Geoffrey W.
