{"id":94,"date":"2006-02-22T07:20:05","date_gmt":"2006-02-22T07:20:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.wabash.edu\/alumni\/2006\/02\/22\/way-before-his-time\/"},"modified":"2006-02-22T07:20:05","modified_gmt":"2006-02-22T07:20:05","slug":"way-before-his-time","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.wabash.edu\/alumninews\/2006\/02\/22\/way-before-his-time\/","title":{"rendered":"Way Before His Time"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"margin-top: 0\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.wabash.edu\/www2images\/ken-Rudolph.jpg\" align=\"right\" alt=\"\" \/><span style=\"font-family: 'Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif'\">In this little blog, I tend to be a little less than fully serious.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-top: 0\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif'\">However, today needs to be different.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-top: 0\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif'\">Late yesterday we learned of the death of <b>Ken Rudolph &#8217;05<\/b>. Ken was involved in a fatal car accident. That&#8217;s all I know&#8230;<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-top: 0\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif'\">Ken was a strong, conservative voice on campus. Self confident&#8230;he turned around the <i>Commentary<\/i>, the conservative publication on campus, in my humble opinion. Ken put integrity back into the entire process. &nbsp;Integrity is the most important trait a gentleman has &#8211; if one doesn&#8217;t have integrity, nothing else really matters.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-top: 0\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif'\">I didn&#8217;t know Ken that well &#8211; but that&#8217;s OK. He was a Wabash man, through and through. He loved this place and relished the academic exchange of ideas that frequently centered on politics.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-top: 0\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif'\">God called Ken home-way before his time. Ours is not to try to figure out why. Ours is to celebrate Ken&#8217;s life, to be there for his family, and to remember that a healthy exchange of ideas is the foundation of a real liberal arts college. Ken knew that and we are better because he cared enough to speak up.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-top: 0\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif'\">God&#8217;s speed, Ken Rudolph &#8211; save me a place.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In this little blog, I tend to be a little less than fully serious.
