Coates \u201989<\/strong> received the <em>Kathryn C. Hach Award For Entrepreneurial Success<\/em>, presented by American Chemical Society to recognize outstanding entrepreneurs who have created a commercially viable business within the chemical enterprise. Geoff is currently the Tisch University Professor, Chemistry &amp; Chemical Biology at Cornell University, and Principle Investigator with <a href=\"http:\/\/coates.chem.cornell.edu\/geoff-coates\/\">The Coates Research Group<\/a> at Cornell.<\/p>\n<p>In an interview with <em>ACS News<\/em>, Geoff described what inspires him: \u201cOne of the most fun parts of the day for me is meeting with a small group of students or collaborators in front of a clean whiteboard and brainstorming on a topic of importance. Breaking down complex problems and building up potential solutions with a talented team of scientists is one of the best ways I know of to come up with creative research projects.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>After Wabash, Geoff earned his<b> <\/b>Ph.D. in organic chemistry at Stanford University.<\/p>\n<p>Congratulations, Geoff!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Prof. Geoffrey W.
