Mikesell \u201964<\/strong> recently received the National Tax Association\u2019s Steven Gold Award: \u201cIn recognition of his outstanding contributions to state and local fiscal policy and his ability to span the interests of scholars, practitioners, policymakers, and advocates with great integrity and evenhandedness.\u201d\u00a0 John proudly regards receiving the Gold Award as the highest honor in his distinguished career as an expert on public finance.<\/p>\n<p>John has been the Chancellor\u2019s Professor at the Indiana University School of Public &amp; Environmental Health since 2008.\u00a0 His areas of interest include: \u00a0governmental finance, especially questions of policy and administration of sales and property taxation; state lotteries; public budgeting; and public finance in countries of the former Soviet Union.\u00a0 After Wabash, he earned his M.A., University of Illinois and his Ph.D., University of Illinois.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right\"><em>Photo courtesy of<\/em><br \/>\n<em> Indiana University.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dr. John L.
