{"id":817,"date":"2009-03-29T06:39:10","date_gmt":"2009-03-29T06:39:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.wabash.edu\/alumni\/2009\/03\/29\/celebrating-scholarships-luncheon\/"},"modified":"2009-03-29T06:39:10","modified_gmt":"2009-03-29T06:39:10","slug":"celebrating-scholarships-luncheon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.wabash.edu\/alumninews\/2009\/03\/29\/celebrating-scholarships-luncheon\/","title":{"rendered":"Celebrating Scholarships Luncheon"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Almost 400 &nbsp;people gathered Saturday as the college celebrated those who have provided the funds for scholarships. &nbsp;Students and their families were seated with the families responsible for providing the scholarships.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"428\" height=\"285\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.wabash.edu\/www2images\/messer.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Wabash alumnus Luke Messer &#8217;91<\/strong>, who came to Wabash from a a single parent family, explained that scholarships made it possible for him to attend Wabash &#8211; without the scholarship, he would not have been here. &nbsp;He also credited Wabash with his ability to be successful at one of the best law schools in the country after Wabash.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<img decoding=\"async\" width=\"428\" height=\"285\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.wabash.edu\/www2images\/preewicz.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Student Sam Prellwitz &#8217;10<\/strong>, who plans to be a Minister after Wabash, then captured the crowd as he drew a parallel between his experiences on the farm as a young boy and his similar experiences with growth and the benefits of hard work and pushing your personal limits at Wabash.<\/p>\n<p>It was a special lunch and many thanks go to Wabash staff member <strong>Marilyn Smith<\/strong> for putting the entire lunch and program together.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Almost 400 &nbsp;people gathered Saturday as the college celebrated those who have provided the funds for scholarships. &nbsp;Students and their families were seated with the families responsible for providing the scholarships.
