Shafer PhD \u201987<\/strong> and his wife, Jennifer, are partners in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.shafer-consulting.org\/\">Shafer Consulting<\/a> in Sarasota, Florida, an environmental consulting firm specializing in communication of science and science-policy issues through analysis, outreach and creative design.\u00a0 They\u00a0list many local area environmental organizations as clients.<span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman\">\u00a0 <\/span>The Sarasota <em>Herald Tribune<\/em> featured them as the co-executive directors of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.scienceandenvironment.org\/\">Science and Environment Council of Southwest Florida<\/a>, a group of organizations who\u00a0promote and advance science and environmental issues.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">After Wabash, David earned his PhD in Zoology (Population Ecology) from the University of Hawaii, where he met Jennifer, a PhD from University of Hawaii who has taught biology and biostatistics in marine science programs.<span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman\">\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000\">When they moved from Hawaii to Florida a few years ago, it was a natural transfer of interests in environment, conservation, and preservation to their new home state.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">Congratulations, David!<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em>Photo courtesy of The Richardson Group.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Calibri\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dr. David J.
