{"id":5744,"date":"2013-03-04T09:26:47","date_gmt":"2013-03-04T14:26:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.wabash.edu\/alumni\/?p=5744"},"modified":"2013-03-04T09:26:47","modified_gmt":"2013-03-04T14:26:47","slug":"emanuel-harper-10-testifies-before-u-s-subcommittee","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.wabash.edu\/alumninews\/2013\/03\/04\/emanuel-harper-10-testifies-before-u-s-subcommittee\/","title":{"rendered":"Emanuel Harper \u201910 testifies before U.S. subcommittee"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.wabash.edu\/alumni\/files\/2013\/03\/emanuel-harper.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft  wp-image-5746\" title=\"emanuel-harper\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.wabash.edu\/alumni\/files\/2013\/03\/emanuel-harper.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"114\" height=\"123\" \/><\/a>Emanuel Harper \u201810\u00a0<\/strong>teaches French at Herron High School in Indianapolis.\u00a0 Herron \u00a0is a public charter school founded on the belief that a classical, liberal arts education, where students are steeped in great historical thought and invention, is the best preparation for a future life of leadership and service.<\/p>\n<p>Last Friday, Emanuel was one of four witnesses who testified before the U.S. House of Representatives Subcommittee on Early Childhood, Elementary, and Secondary Education, at a\u00a0hearing to explore the innovative methods states and school districts are using to evaluate and promote teacher effectiveness.\u00a0 The committee is chaired by U.S. Representative Todd Rokita \u201992.\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/edworkforce.house.gov\/news\/documentsingle.aspx?DocumentID=321661\">Click<\/a> here to read more about the Committee\u2019s work and a transcript of Emanuel\u2019s testimony.<\/p>\n<p>Emanuel, who majored in French and minored in Spanish at Wabash, teaches four levels of French at Herron.\u00a0 He is a 2009 cohort member of the Indianapolis Teaching Fellows and is currently pursuing a Masters of Arts in Teaching at Marian University.
