His thesis explored myths as conceptual metaphors in fifth-century B.C. Athenian funeral orations for the war dead. An active member of the Graduate Student Council, he served as vice president for administration among other roles. He served on the University&#8217;s Public Safety Oversight Committee as well as the Campus Life Advisory Board&#8217;s Subcommittee on Alcohol and Other Drugs.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Chris graduated magna cum laude (Phi Beta Kappa and valedictorian) with a B.A. in Latin and Greek (and a minor in English and the Classics) from Wabash, and received several scholarships for original and creative work in the humanities.\u00a0 He did scholarly research in England, Germany, Italy, and Turkey.
