Wine Award"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dr. Jack Webster &#8217;67, professor of ecology in the College of Science\u00a0at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University<!-- end footer bg -->, has received the university&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vtnews.vt.edu\/articles\/2012\/04\/042312-facstaffaward-webster.html\">2012 William E. Wine Award<\/a>.\u00a0 Jack was one of <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.wabash.edu\/alumni\/files\/2012\/04\/jack-webster.jpg\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-4405\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.wabash.edu\/alumni\/files\/2012\/04\/jack-webster-199x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"199\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.wabash.edu\/alumninews\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2012\/04\/jack-webster-199x300.jpg 199w, https:\/\/blog.wabash.edu\/alumninews\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2012\/04\/jack-webster.jpg 240w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 199px) 100vw, 199px\" \/><\/a>three recipients who were nominated by their respective schools.<\/p>\n<p>Since joining the Virginia Tech\u00a0Department of Biological Sciences\u00a0faculty in 1975,\u00a0Jack has taught 11 different courses ranging from sophomore-level Principles of Ecology to a graduate-level course in Modeling Stream Ecosystems.\u00a0\u00a0He is also a world-renowned researcher, having secured $6.3 million as a principal- or co-principal-investigator on grants, and another $32 million as a contributing member of research teams involving several other universities, and has\u00a0published 100 peer-reviewed papers and 35 book chapters.<\/p>\n<p>After graduating from Wabash,\u00a0Jack received his Ph.D. from the University of Georgia.\u00a0 Congratulations, Jack!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dr. Jack Webster &#8217;67, professor of ecology in the College of Science\u00a0at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, has received the university&#8217;s 2012 William E.
