J. Lewis Center for Environmental Studies<\/em>. The AJLC was recently named the most important green building of the past 30 years by <em>Architect<\/em> magazine.<\/p>\n<p>As a grad student at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.news.appstate.edu\/2011\/04\/11\/sustainability\/\">Appalachian State<\/a>, Sean was chair of the student-run Renewable Energy Initiative (REI),\u00a0a self-imposed $5\/semester student fee which helps finance many renewable energy projects on the campus.<\/p>\n<p>At Oberlin, Sean is in charge of management and upgrading of the Lewis Center for Environmental Studies, a unique ecologically designed and engineered facility, as well as other academic support and community outreach\/communications.\u00a0 The AJLC also\u00a0supports\u00a0the monitoring of\u00a0real-time usage of\u00a0water and electrical resources in the campus buildings, through the online <a href=\"http:\/\/www.oberlin.edu\/ajlc\/\">Building Dashboard<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Sounds like a perfect match for Sean!<\/p>\n<p><em>Thanks to the\u00a02004 class agent<br \/>\nletter for\u00a0<\/em><em>sharing this news.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sean Hayes &#8217;04 recently completed his M.S. in Appropriate Technology from Appalachian State University.\u00a0 And, he was recently hired as Facilities Manager &amp; Community Outreach Coordinator at Oberlin College&#8217;s A.
