{"id":3228,"date":"2011-08-12T07:00:21","date_gmt":"2011-08-12T11:00:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.wabash.edu\/alumni\/?p=3228"},"modified":"2011-08-12T07:00:21","modified_gmt":"2011-08-12T11:00:21","slug":"edward-evans-13-wins-summer-research-award-at-univ-of-arkansas","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.wabash.edu\/alumninews\/2011\/08\/12\/edward-evans-13-wins-summer-research-award-at-univ-of-arkansas\/","title":{"rendered":"Edward Evans &#039;13 wins summer research award at Univ. of Arkansas"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Edward received the <em>Tony Jude Award<\/em> for outstanding research at the conclusion of the National Science Foundation Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) chemistry and biochemistry program at the University of Arkansas this summer.\u00a0 Edward\u00a0researched \u201cExpression and Purification of Cdc42 and PBD46, an Important Ras-Protein Complex,\u201d under the direction of Prof. Paul Adams.\u00a0 Edward is a chemistry and mathematics major and French minor here at Wabash.\u00a0 This is the 23rd year the Arkansas chemistry and biochemistry department has\u00a0sponsored the NSF-REU summer program on its campus.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_3229\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3229\" style=\"width: 250px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.wabash.edu\/alumni\/files\/2011\/08\/edward-evans.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-3229\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.wabash.edu\/alumni\/files\/2011\/08\/edward-evans.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"250\" height=\"191\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-3229\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Edward receives the 2011 Tony Jude Award.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The <em><a href=\"http:\/\/chemistry.uark.edu\/5349.php\">Tony Jude Award <\/a><\/em>was created in 2002 in honor of Univ. of Arkansas alumnus and former REU student Anthony Jude, Ph.D. \u201998, who passed away in 2001. He had participated in the department REU in 1992.
