{"id":1154,"date":"2010-08-13T08:18:46","date_gmt":"2010-08-13T08:18:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.wabash.edu\/alumni\/2010\/08\/13\/made-by-singer\/"},"modified":"2010-08-13T08:18:46","modified_gmt":"2010-08-13T08:18:46","slug":"made-by-singer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.wabash.edu\/alumninews\/2010\/08\/13\/made-by-singer\/","title":{"rendered":"Made by Singer?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"428\" height=\"285\" align=\"top\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.wabash.edu\/www2images\/sewing.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Brent Harris gave me a little tour this morning of the on-going field turf installation. &nbsp;By the way, the field looks great!<\/p>\n<p>You&#8217;ve seen the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/blogs.wabash.edu\/pa\/2010\/08\/post_18.html\">construction coverage<\/a> by <strong><em>Kyle Bender<\/em><\/strong>, who has done a superb job.<\/p>\n<p>Brent pointed out this&nbsp;&quot;sewing machine&quot; &#8211; this is the device that they use to sew the field turf pieces together. &nbsp;Looks like a sewing machine and acts like a sewing machine. &nbsp;Must be a sewing machine&#8230;industrial strength.<\/p>\n<p>Once they get the field down, then they cut out spaces for the yard markers, the &quot;W&quot;, and all the other markings. &nbsp;They&#8217;ll also install the little rubber pieces (technical term!) that get raked into the turf. &nbsp;Here&#8217;s a close-up of the field turf before it gets the top coat. &nbsp;Those rubber pellets, if you will, settle to the turf&#8217;s &quot;scalp&quot; and that gives the field more natural feel.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"428\" height=\"285\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.wabash.edu\/www2images\/turf.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Brent Harris gave me a little tour this morning of the on-going field turf installation. &nbsp;By the way, the field looks great!
