{"id":1143,"date":"2010-07-23T08:42:37","date_gmt":"2010-07-23T08:42:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.wabash.edu\/alumni\/2010\/07\/23\/baseball-and-something-more\/"},"modified":"2010-07-23T08:42:37","modified_gmt":"2010-07-23T08:42:37","slug":"baseball-and-something-more","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.wabash.edu\/alumninews\/2010\/07\/23\/baseball-and-something-more\/","title":{"rendered":"Baseball and Something More?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>So, another restless morning and another trip to campus earlier than normal.<\/p>\n<p>I thought I&#8217;d take a photo or two of the work on the new baseball field from a different perspective &#8211; deep in center field looking Southwest towards home plate. &nbsp;You see, deep in center field was never a place I hit a baseball, simply a place where I ran wind-sprints as a pitcher.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"480\" height=\"320\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.wabash.edu\/www2images\/deep center_MG_3101.jpg\" \/>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The guys hadn&#8217;t started yet this morning, but there&#8217;s been a lot of progress thus far in leveling the playing field, so to speak!<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"480\" height=\"320\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.wabash.edu\/www2images\/center 2_MG_3101.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>What caught my eye, up close, is what appears to be a the mound of dirt outside left field. &nbsp;I&#8217;ve shown you pictures of this before.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"480\" height=\"320\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.wabash.edu\/www2images\/bunker_MG_3104.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve seen similar structures in another life. &nbsp;What made me wonder is the ventilation pipes strategically located around the&nbsp;&quot;mound&quot;. &nbsp;Here&#8217;s a closer look. &nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"480\" height=\"320\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.wabash.edu\/www2images\/bunker 2_MG_3103.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Hmmmm&#8230;drainage? &nbsp;Ventilation? &nbsp;Comm lines?<\/p>\n<p>Bunker? &nbsp;The new Wabash College Command Post?<\/p>\n<p>Just kiddin!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>So, another restless morning and another trip to campus earlier than normal.
