{"id":11388,"date":"2022-09-01T12:57:03","date_gmt":"2022-09-01T16:57:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.wabash.edu\/alumninews\/?p=11388"},"modified":"2023-04-05T14:16:31","modified_gmt":"2023-04-05T18:16:31","slug":"harmon-10-joins-advanced-dental-concepts%ef%bf%bc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.wabash.edu\/alumninews\/2022\/09\/01\/harmon-10-joins-advanced-dental-concepts%ef%bf%bc\/","title":{"rendered":"Harmon \u201910 joins Advanced Dental Concepts"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignleft size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.wabash.edu\/alumninews\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2022\/09\/Dr.-Harmon.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"134\" height=\"200\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.wabash.edu\/alumninews\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2022\/09\/Dr.-Harmon.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-11389\" \/><\/a><figcaption>Dr. Shane Harmon <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dr. Shane Harmon \u201910 recently joined Advanced Dental Concepts in Dyer, Indiana, as one of its newest dentists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Harmon started practicing in the Region right after graduating from the IU School of Dentistry, spending almost eight years working out of a private practice in Michigan City.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He joined the team at Advanced Dental Concepts in April, drawn in by ADC owner Dr. Danny Hayes\u2019 vision for a professional, compassionate, and flexible dentistry that does all it can to help their patients have the best experience possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI approach everyone in a really non-judgmental way, I want to meet you where you\u2019re at,\u201d Harmon said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/portage.life\/article\/advanced-dental-concepts-welcomes-dr-shane-harmon-dds-to-their-team-of-talented-compassionate-dentists\/\">report published by Portage Life<\/a>. \u201cSometimes that means doing everything, other times it\u2019s focusing on something they need right now. I just try to be flexible, accommodating, and give the patient as much or as little as they\u2019d like.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Helping to meet that need of his patients is part of why Harmon entered the field in the first place &#8211; combined with an early interest in science and health, as well as a strong relationship with one of his family\u2019s own dentists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&nbsp;\u201cI really enjoyed chemistry, biology, and those types of science classes so medicine seemed like a good fit,\u201d he said. \u201cWhen I got toward the end of college, I started looking more into the medical field and came across all these doctors who said they didn\u2019t enjoy what they did and enjoyed dentistry more. I had an orthodontist my family was close to growing up, so I was drawn to that, and the more I looked at it the more I liked it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Harmon is a 2010 graduate from Wabash College, and a 2014 doctorate recipient from the Indiana University School of Dentistry. While at Wabash, he majored in biology and minored in chemistry.
