{"id":1117,"date":"2010-06-07T08:35:29","date_gmt":"2010-06-07T08:35:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.wabash.edu\/alumni\/2010\/06\/07\/i-sat-right-there\/"},"modified":"2010-06-07T08:35:29","modified_gmt":"2010-06-07T08:35:29","slug":"i-sat-right-there","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.wabash.edu\/alumninews\/2010\/06\/07\/i-sat-right-there\/","title":{"rendered":"I Sat Right There"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"428\" height=\"285\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.wabash.edu\/www2images\/right there_MG_1078(1).jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s <strong>Nicolas Thireos, Class of 1960<\/strong>, pointing out his assigned Chapel seat to his lovely wife, Karen.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Chapel is always a stop for alumni and their families back for a reunion. &nbsp;Their actions, regardless of their age, are always the same. &nbsp;It&#8217;s one or two steps into the Chapel itself and stop. &nbsp;Nothing said. No movement. &nbsp;Standing still until it all soaks in. &nbsp;I have tried to capture that in a picture but it&#8217;s tough to do. &nbsp;I always feel like I an intruding on something too personal and private.<\/p>\n<p>My sense is their initial reaction is &quot;Thank goodness this is still the same.&quot; &nbsp;Something about the timeless nature of our Chapel means that all the best of Wabash College remains exactly the same as in the Golden Years. &nbsp;(Whenever they attended, of course!)<\/p>\n<p>Nicolas and Karen made the trip from Rochester, New York.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>That&#8217;s Nicolas Thireos, Class of 1960, pointing out his assigned Chapel seat to his lovely wife, Karen.&nbsp; The Chapel is always a stop for alumni and their families back for a reunion.
