{"id":11090,"date":"2022-01-13T10:24:18","date_gmt":"2022-01-13T15:24:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.wabash.edu\/alumninews\/?p=11090"},"modified":"2022-07-25T15:34:56","modified_gmt":"2022-07-25T19:34:56","slug":"jeremy-walker-92-recognized-at-cfp-championship","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.wabash.edu\/alumninews\/2022\/01\/13\/jeremy-walker-92-recognized-at-cfp-championship\/","title":{"rendered":"Jeremy Walker \u201992 recognized at CFP Championship"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Jeremy Walker \u201992, a Crown Point High School geometry teacher and blended learning specialist, was one of 18 Indiana educators celebrated during the College Football Playoff National Championship weekend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft size-full is-resized\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.wabash.edu\/alumninews\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2022\/01\/Walker_J_2673.jpeg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.wabash.edu\/alumninews\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2022\/01\/Walker_J_2673.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-11091\" width=\"139\" height=\"174\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.wabash.edu\/alumninews\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2022\/01\/Walker_J_2673.jpeg 256w, https:\/\/blog.wabash.edu\/alumninews\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2022\/01\/Walker_J_2673-240x300.jpeg 240w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 139px) 100vw, 139px\" \/><\/a><figcaption>Jeremy Walker<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The 2022 College Football Playoff Indianapolis Host Committee and College Football Playoff Foundation recognized Walker, who was nominated by his peers and community as a 2021-2022 Teachers of the Year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cHonoring teachers is one of the many ways that the 2022 College Football Playoff National Championship positively impacts our community,\u201d said Mark Howell, chairman of the Indianapolis Host Committee in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wthr.com\/article\/news\/education\/teachers-of-the-year-to-receive-special-recognition-during-championship-weekend-college-football-playoff-events\/531-b93a96b2-5bd2-4ed5-9b71-4dfcb91d570f\">WTHR report<\/a>. \u201cWe invite teachers and all of their biggest fans to join us in celebrating their hard work.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Walker had the opportunity to enjoy a four-night stay in downtown Indianapolis. He was joined by the 56 other state teachers of the year from the Teacher of the Year program as honored guests at CFP Foundation events. Those events included the Extra Yard 5K and Taste of the Championship.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All the teachers were also recognized on-field at the national championship game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Walker, who was one of two teachers selected as the district\u2019s Teacher of the Year, has been part of the CPHS teaching staff since 1995.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As part of his blended learning position, Walker has provided teachers, parents, and students with countless hours of help to navigate technology and learning in a non-traditional year. He is also a sponsor of the CPHS Latin Club.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cJeremy is a major contributor to our faculty,\u201d Russ Marcinek, Crown Point High School Principal said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cps.k12.in.us\/leadership\/teacher-employee-of-the-year\">news release<\/a>. \u201cHe leads several professional development sessions for our teachers, and our administrative team relies on him to provide leadership in the area of technology and technology-based instructional practices.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe pandemic has been hard for everyone, and I know teachers in particular, have been pulled in so many new directions,\u201d said CPHS parent Heather Cain. \u201cAs a parent, I\u2019m grateful for Mr. Walker\u2019s dedication. His commitment to teaching and to his students has had such a positive effect on my daughter. He was able to connect with her, and his enthusiasm and upbeat nature helped her day by day.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While at Wabash, Walker majored in mathematics and Latin.
