{"id":11032,"date":"2021-11-04T08:56:57","date_gmt":"2021-11-04T12:56:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.wabash.edu\/alumninews\/?p=11032"},"modified":"2022-07-25T15:33:51","modified_gmt":"2022-07-25T19:33:51","slug":"jerry-sheward-79-joins-aspire-indiana-health","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.wabash.edu\/alumninews\/2021\/11\/04\/jerry-sheward-79-joins-aspire-indiana-health\/","title":{"rendered":"Jerry Sheward \u201979 joins Aspire Indiana Health"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft size-full is-resized\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.wabash.edu\/alumninews\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2021\/11\/Sheward.jpeg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.wabash.edu\/alumninews\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2021\/11\/Sheward.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-11033\" width=\"160\" height=\"240\" \/><\/a><figcaption>Jerry Sheward<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dr. Jerry Sheward \u201979 has recently rejoined Aspire Indiana Health as Associate Medical Director of Behavioral Health.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A psychiatrist and veteran leader in behavioral healthcare, Sheward will provide oversight of behavioral health teams and practices in Anderson and in group home settings, <a href=\"https:\/\/thepaper24-7.com\/?p=1159\">The Paper reported.<\/a> He previously served with Aspire for 26 years in various roles, departing in 2016 as Vice President and Chief Medical Officer to accept a new position with the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sheward is Board Certified by the American Board of Psychiatry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThere are several projects here at Aspire where my prior experiences might come in handy, and I believe in the concept of integrating behavioral healthcare into healthcare,\u201d Sheward said. \u201cWe were working on the beginnings of this transformation before I left, but the executive team has taken great strides in creating the Aspire I see today.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sheward earned his bachelor\u2019s in chemistry from Wabash College and his MD from Indiana University School of Medicine, serving his psychiatric residency at Indiana University Medical Center.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While at Wabash, Sheward majored in chemistry and minored in mathematics.
