Andrew Todd ’09, a sixth-grade teacher at Mary Castle Elementary School, won the Teacher of the Year award for the Metropolitan School District of Lawrence Township.

Todd finished his ninth year of teaching at Mary Castle, and said he enjoys teaching his students to be leaders.

“I think Lawrence Township teachers are some of the hardest-working teachers in the city, so to be selected to represent our district as the Teacher of the Year is a huge honor,” Todd said in a Towne Post Network story.

“My parents raised my siblings and me with a service mindset,” he said. “We teach kids that they have to do their part to ensure that the classroom runs smoothly. Our work is no different. Being a teacher provides me an opportunity to serve the community the best way that I know how. We are doing our part to ensure that this next generation of Hoosiers are socially, emotionally and academically fit to carry the torch when their time comes.”

While at Wabash, Todd double majored in history and religion and was a member of Phi Gamma Delta.
