Pat McAlister ’10 teaches 8th, 9th, and 10th grade English at the Indiana Math and Science Academy-North in Indianapolis.  In a letter on the Conversations page in the IndyStar today, Pat explains his view, “Common Core standards equal deeper understanding of literature.”  Common Core Standards in Indiana is a state-led process to develop a common core of state standards in English/language arts and mathematics for grades K-12.  Click here to read Pat’s letter.

Pat was a Political Science major and History and Theater minor at Wabash, and holds a teaching certificate in Chemistry Education from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.  While a student at Wabash, he was a Staff Writer for Public Affairs Department and editor-in-chief of The Bachelor.  He taught physics, chemistry, and English in the Teach for America Program for two years in North Carolina and Indianapolis.  He has also been a press intern for Senator Evan Bayh and has been active in local political campaigns
