Oh, so I’ll include just one vacation photo….
Carol and I joined our son Chris (Wabash ’94) and his family for our traditional July 4th family vacation. We traveled to Bar Harbor and Kennebunkport, Maine. Bar Harbor is the place where the sun rises first in the United States. Of course, Chris and I just had to take pictures of a sunrise – we had to do it! That’s it – sunrise at 0453 on July 3, 2006.
As it turns out, classmate Jon Pactor and his family arrived at Bar Harbor on the day after we left! Even more interesting – they stayed at the same bed and breakfast!

I found out while on vacation that Jeff McLochlin ’83 was killed in acton in Afghanistan last week. Jeff was featured in a Grunge blog report some months back.
There aren’t words in my vocabulary good enough to ease the hurt Jeff’s family feels or to explain why some are called to make the ultimate sacrifice in combat. Suffice to say Jeff gave his life so that we might be free – to live the way we want and to live without the threat of terrorism taking away that way of life.
I know the entire Wabash community joins me in keeping Jeff’s family foremost in our thoughts and prayers.
God’s Speed Jeff…
