The Grunge is back…

Back from vaca…but want to share about the last day of vacation.

Statue of Liberty

Early in the afternoon we braved the crowds of people at the Statue of Liberty.  High temp + high humidity + a lot of humanity = YMCA locker room aroma!

My son said something to the effect of “Lady Liberty” and “isn’t that why you served?”  I did the “yep” thing and moved on…but the thoughts lingered…

No matter how you slice it, Freedom isn’t free and it certainly isn’t timeless.

After the Statue, we visited the 9/11 Memorial.  The bottom line is really simple to a poor, dumb fighter pilot – check “six” and don’t assume you’re clear.  Ever.  Vigilance must be external.

What the heck does that have to do with Wabash?

There’s no sitting still in higher education.  None.  If you’re not growing, you’re dying.  We can’t settle for last year’s good, last year’s student profile, last year’s lesson plans, last year’s anything.  The competition won’t.  They’ll want to be better.  We need to be better as well…plus a little better…

It Isn’t The Size of the Fish…

Jeremiah Thomas Runge

GaBunge and Nana are at Cranberry Lake in upstate New York.  No cell service.  Old, slow WiFi.  Might be perfect vacation setup.

Yesterday was a mega fishing day from 8:00 AM to sunset…interspersed with Wave Runner, pontoon boat, swimming, eating too much, etc.

This picture is a good reminder that the size of the fish doesn’t matter as much as the size of the fun.
