Back in Business

Good afternoon everyone! After 2 weeks researching rural education systems in southern Argentina, I’m back in the big city to finish up my semester! It’s crazy to think that my time is here is starting to wrap up, but I’m starting to feel ready to see everyone back in the States again. But before I have time to think about that, I’ll be completing my final Independent Study Project – more details about that in the video! I should be able to post a few more of these bad boys before I take my flight back, but the time in Argentina is starting to run low! 13 days and counting…

I’ll see you all soon! Everybody Love Everybody,

Bode

Staying Fit While Abroad!

Hey all! We spent the last 2 weeks galavanting around the northern regions of Argentina, Jujuy and Salta, to learn more about environmental rights and the social movements against drug trafficking and violence. Being on the road is fun, but it can make it tough to stay in shape! No gym, no equipment – what’s a guy to do? While at our hostel in Jujuy, I made a video that will help you stay in shape whenever you’re abroad! Check it out!

Feeling a little burn is a great way to keep the stress (and calories) at bay. Although my study abroad trip is far from over, we are starting to wrap up classes this week, same as Wabash, while preparing to begin the Independent Study Project portion of our program. Best of luck to all with finals back in Crawfordsville – study hard this week!

Make sure to keep those in Nepal in your thoughts and prayers, and Everybody Love Everybody!

The Wabash Tag!

Hello all! Prospective students – wondering what it’s really like to attend Wabash College? Current students, professors, and alumni – wondering what your peers actually think about Wabash? Wonder no more! Fellow Little Giant YouTuber Ryan Horner ’15 and I have collaborated on a little video project to answer a few questions about what we really think about Wabash – The Wabash Tag! Check it out!

Well there you have it! The Tag was a blast to do with Ryan, and we encourage everyone in the Wabash community to answer the tag and pass it on in any way they’d like to!

I’m heading up to the Argentine North until the 24th, so don’t expect too many updates from me until then (no Wi-Fi!), but I’m sure I’ll have plenty to talk about when I get back!

Best of luck to Ryan this week, as he’s been selected as one of four seniors to address the campus at the annual Senior Chapel – you deserve it, brother! Wish I could be there!

Have a great day, Wabash, and Everybody Love Everybody!

The New Friend Tag w/ Jordan Houston!

Good evening, Wallies far and wide! I hope you’ve had a wonderful week and are ready for the weekend. You all have seen plenty of me on my blogs the past month or two – have you wondered about the other adventure-bound students in our group? This week I sat down with Jordan Houston, a lovely junior at Smith College in Utah, who is also a contributing editor to The Huffington Post. We decided to ask a couple of questions that new friends ought to know about each other – The New Friend Tag!

Needless to say, we had a blast filming, and I’m been so lucky to have the opportunity to make these new friends from all over the world during my time in Buenos Aires! Next week we head up to the Argentine North for 2 weeks, so I’ll have plenty of new adventures to share with you all when I return (or as soon as I get access to wi-fi)! In the meantime, subscribe to my channel, follow my daily activities on Twitter @BodeWabashBlog, and be sure to check out Jordan’s work with the Huffington Post! But most importantly Wabash, Everybody Love Everybody!

Tenth Video!

Buenos dias, Wabash!

The time has flown down here in Buenos Aires – April already! After a week speaking (almost) no English, I finally feel like my Spanish is beginning to improve! Life in the city is starting to feel normal, and everyone is beginning to really crack down on their Independent Study Projects that will begin next month. We’re starting to branch out and make new friends in the city – real porteños (Buenos Aires dwellers), and the cultural immersion is a blast! We even attended a night-long full-moon drum-circle celebration this weekend, “Tambores y La Luna.” I’ve also started having confrontations with the small dog living in our apartment – Lola. If she’s not laying on the ground in front of me, she is bouncing 5 feet in the air barking. I’ve about had it, but I guess I’ll have to survive.

Be sure to subscribe to my channel if you like keeping up on my antics, and check out my Twitter page at @BodeWabashBlog!

Have a wonderful Easter, Wabash, and Everybody Love Everybody!

Una Semana Sin Ingles!

Buenos dias Wabash!

Angry, Gay, and a Little Bit Thirsty

Hola Wabash!

It’s been a heck of a first week back from our time in Patagonia, but Friday is finally here! If you’ve been keeping up with Indiana politics, you know that on Thursday, Governor Mike Pence signed the Religious Freedom Restoration Act into law. In this week’s blog, I’ll share my thoughts on the issue, along with the perspective I’ve gained from spending some time in Argentina. The first month of my study abroad experience is up, and I can’t believe how quickly the time is flying by!

P.S. It was great Skyping with the Rhynes the other night – those gray sweats look good!

Patagonia 2015

Buenos tardes amigos! After a long week in Patagonia Argentina, including San Martín de los Andes, Chiquilihuin, and Bariloche, I’m back in the big city. It was incredible adventure – climbing mountains, homesteads in the Mapuche community, and even more exposure to lifestyles and ways of thinking different from my own. Even better was the time spent with the great friends I’ve made down here in Argentina. This video covers the whole trip, but as our group continues to debrief and discuss the issues brought up by our observations down south, I’ll fill you guys in on my thoughts and personal thinking-points. Enjoy!

Have a great weekend, Wabash!

Trip to Ex-E.S.M.A.

Good morning everyone! This week the SIT “Human Rights and Social Movements” group had the opportunity to visit the Espacio Memoria y Derechos Humanos in Buenos Aires, the former site of the Escuela Superior de Mecánica de la Armada, a clandestine prison camp in the 1970’s. Here’s a short look at our visit, and my reflections on the trip.

Keep following my Twitter @BodeWabashBlog for more updates as we head to Bariloche and the Argentinian South next week!

Have a great Thursday everyone!
