During his Wabash years, Gabe Sowder ‘97 worked in restaurants, and after graduation the English major/aspiring writer decided the food business was to be his career.  He traveled, honed his chef skills in various restaurants, and then returned to his hometown of Jeffersonville, IN.

In January 2012 he opened his first restaurant, Taco Punk, in Louisville’s NuLu district.  It became a family affair when his five year old son helped name the restaurant after a nickname for his dad!  Gabe was recently featured in the winter issue of Food and Dining and on Secrets of Louisville Chefs Live.  Taco Punk’s style is quality food served in a casual atmosphere.  Gabe’s passion is local food sourcing, recycling and composting for the environment, and support of community programs.

The next time you’re in the Louisville area, stop by Taco Punk for a taco – or two!
