There are a number of connections between Wabash College and St. Marys. Our president, Pat White, was at St. Marys (IN) before he and Chris came to Wabash. Over the years, there have been young ladies from two different Indiana St. Marys who have found their way to Wabash College.
Yet another Wabash connection is the one to the St. Marys (CA) Gaels – in the Sweet 16 (information from my good friend Jim Amidon!)
The St. Marys coach, Randy Bennett (photo), is the son of Tom Bennett ’60, who played on some great Little Giant teams in the late 1950s and is a member of the Wabash Athletics Hall of Fame. Tom coached Randy, during Randy’s collegiate playing days, at Mesa Community College in Mesa, AZ ,where Tom was the head basketball coach.
Tom’s 50th reunion is coming up in June – there should be some great basketball stories told at the Scarlet Yarns and Scarlet Nickle.
